I Frederick Sheese of Trevorton, Zerbe Township County of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania,--being of Sound mind, Memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And first I direct that my body be decently buried in the German Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zerbe Township, according tot he rites and ceremonies of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and that my funeral be conducted in accordance with my Estate and situation in life. As to such estate as I may have at my death I dispose of the same as follows to Wit; FIRST--I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catharine Dorothy Sheese, All my house hold furniture, my library in my Mansion or Dwelling house, And also all the moneys remaining to be paid to her by my Executor herein after named, as soon as can be consistently with a proper settlement of all my Debts legacies and funeral expenses: to her use during her natural life, I also give, and bequeath to her my said wife Catharine Dorothy Sheese, the use improvements and income of my house, messuage [?] and lot parcel or piece of ground on which my Dwelling house is erected, Containing one acre situate on the south side of Shamokin Street in Zerbe Township, County and State aforesaid, known as the western end of Out-lot numbered One hundred and thirty-six (136). And also joining on the west of said Lot, two acres known as out Lot numbered one hundred and thirty-five (135) with all the improvements thereon Erected, for and during her natural life. And after her death of my beloved wife Catharine Dorothy, I give and bequeath the same as follows to Wit; SECOND--I give and bequeath unto my Son, Adam Sheese, All that certain Lot or parcel of ground Situate on the south side of Shamokin Street in Zerbe Township, County & State aforesaid, known as Out-Lot numbered one hundred and thirty-five (135) Containing One and one half of an Acre of said Lot, It being the west end, with the improvements thereon Erected, which I give after the death of my beloved wife Catharine Dorothy Sheese, to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. By him or his heirs and assigns, paying thereout unto my Grand Son Gottlieb Frederick (a son born from the body of my Daughter Elizabeth, now Deceased formerly the wife of Joseph Schuck) the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) hereinafter to him respectfully bequeathed, to be paid to him immediately after the death of my wife Catharine Dorothy Sheese. Provided he should be all right (in case of him being insane or unsound in mind, And in case he is not right sound in mind, then and in such case my said Son Adam Sheese is to take care of my said grand son Gottlieb Frederick, and said sum of moneys as bequeathed to him, to apply for and towards the Maintenance of my said grand son Gottlieb Frederick, THIRD--I give, and bequeath unto my grand children namely Catharine, Lewis, Adam and Margaret Bassler, Sons and daughters of my said Son-in- law Matthias Bassler, All that certain west end of a Lot or piece of ground situate on the south side of Shamokin Street in Zerbe Township, County & State aforesaid, Known as the western end of Out-Lot numbered one hundred and thirty-six (136) Containing One Acre with the improvements thereon Erected, Also joining on the west side of said Lot, One half of an Acre of the Two Acre Lot known as out Lot numbered one hundred & thirty-five, with all the improvements thereon Erected. But said property shall not vest in their hands until after the death of my said wife Catharine Dorothy, and further if they not all arrived at the age of twenty-one years after the death of my said wife Catharine Dorothy, then said property to be and remain in the care and use of my said son-in-law Matthias Bassler and Cleopha Barbara his wife, which they shall keep in good repair & cultivation, and whatever they reap therefrom to be for their own use the same as my said wife received therefrom, until they all (if then living) have arrived respectively at the age of twenty-one years, which I give to them then therefrom share and share alike and to their heirs & assigns for ever, by them or any of them paying thereout unto my two children namely to my Son Gottlieb Frederick Sheese, and to my Daughter Catharine Sheese, the several Sums of money hereinafter to them respectively bequeathed, And in case either of them die without Issue or before the age of Twenty-one years, then I give the share of his or her my said grand son or daughter unto the Survivors or the heirs of them. And in case of all four of my said grand children die without Issue or before arriving at the age of twenty-one years, then I give said Real Estate as bequeathed to them, unto my daughter Cleopha Barbara wife of Matthias Bassler, and to my son Adam Sheese share and share alike forever. FOURTH--I give and bequeath unto my Grand son Gottlieb Frederick, a son born from the body of my Daughter Elizabeth now deceased formerly the wife of Joseph Schuck the Sum of Two Hundred Dollars to be paid to him by my said Son Adam Sheese, the same as Mentioned in Article Second provided he be al right sound in mind, and if not to be applied the same as therein mentioned. FIFTH--I give, and bequeath unto my said son Gottlieb Frederick Sheese the sum of Fifty Dollars, to be paid to him by my said grand children namely Catharine, Lewis, Adam and Margaret Bassler, or their heirs and assigns, after the death of my wife Catharine Dorothy, as above mentioned. SIXTH--I give, and bequeath unto my Daughter Catharine Sheese, the Sum of Fifty Dollars, which is also to be paid to her by my grand children Catharine, Lewis, Adam and Margaret Bassler, of their heirs and assigns after the death of my said wife Catharine Dorothy as above mentioned. SEVENTH--I give, and bequeath unto my son Michael Sheese the sum of One Dollar to be paid by my Executor herein named, which is in addition to what I have heretofore done for him and which is in full for his share out of my Estate. EIGHTH--I give, and bequeath unto my Daughter Cleopha Barbara wife of Matthias Bassler to sum of One Dollar, also to be paid by my Executor herein named. NINTH--And further should there be any Debts after my death and Also after the death of my said wife Catharine Dorothy, and no moneys remaining then & in such case, that my said son Adam Sheese his heirs and assigns to pay the one half of it, And the other one half to be paid by my grand children namely Catharine, Lewis, Adam and Margaret Bassler, to be fully paid by them or their heirs and assigns. TENTH--And further it is my wish and will that my grand children namely Catharine, Lewis, Adam and Margaret Bassler, that they and their heirs, to have the priviledge to use and occupy the stable or Barn, and the Bake oven and also the well to get water, which are erected on Lot number one hundred & thirty-five (135) provided they or their heirs will help to keep the same in order and repair. ELEVENTH--And lastly I do hereby Constitute and appoint my said son-in- law Matthias Bassler Executor of this my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I Frederick Sheese the Testator, have to this my last will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and Seal the Twentieth day of May A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-five (1875).
