The following are transcribed papers relating to the settlement of the Estate of David Shetterly (abt. 1767-1802) who died without a will in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Be It Remembered David Shetterly, deceased That on the Twentieth Day of May in the Year of our Lord 1802. Letters of Administration in due and common form of Law, were granted to George Shetterly & Adam Light Of all Singular and Good Chattels, Right and Credits which were of David Shetterly deceased. Who hath put in Sureties to wit, George Keen and George Moyer. Jerome Simpson - Recorder Virgil Reynolds transcribed the above from copies supplied by Robin Arvickson. They were taken from the Recording Register of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania and recorded in 1802. The Account of George Shetterly and Chattel Rights and Credits which were of Northumberland deceased, who died Interstate and Credits of the said deceased which have come to their payment and Disbursement therout. The said Accountants charge themselves with all and singular the goods and chattel rights of David Shetterly the aforementioned deceased, at the time of his death as from an inventory and appraisement thereof remaining held in the Registers Office at Sunbury. Amounting to L 44 15 6 Also Charge themselves with L 19 13 6 advance on Sale of Ven. Due. Also Charge themselves with L 203 14 2 Amount of George Keen's bond given to Administrators in part payment for land sold by Interstate in his life time. Bond dates 20th January A.D. 1804 Payable the 1st day of November 1805. The amount of said bond has not yet been recorded by the P. Administrators. They original, although in very legible penmanship, was written in longhand, however many abbreviations were used in the original and the undecipherable words were put in parentheses and marked with a (?) when the exact worrd could not be determined.
