Be it remembered. That I John Thompson of the Borough of Shamokin Northumberland County and state of Pennsylvania being of sound mind and memory have thought proper to make and hereby do make my last will and testament in manner following that is to say: First, I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses to be fully paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath to my grand child Kimber Cleaver Gossler the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, said sum of Two Hundred dollars to be paid to said Kimber Cleaver Gossler one year after the death of my wife Sarah Thompson, without interest, and to be exclusive of his share of my estate as heir [illegible word]. Item, All the rest and residue of my property whether real personal or mixed whatever and wheresoever, of what nature kind and quality soever the same maybe and not hereinbefore given and disposed of--after paying my just debts, legacies and funeral expenses--I give, devise, and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Thompson to have and to hold the same for and during her natural life--and to the end that my said wife, may have the fullest enjoyment from the use, improvement, income, rents, profits and interest of my estate for her comfortable support and maintenance [I] do hereby vest in my said Executrix hereinafter named full power and authority to dispose of my real estate in fee simple or for a term of years or otherwise in as full and large a manner in every respect as I could myself do if living--And I do hereby authorize and empower my said executrix whenever in her judgment it would seem meet and necessary for her comfortable support and maintenance to sell and dispose of all my real estate either by public or private sale for the best price that can be gotten for the same and by proper deed, conveyance, or assurances in the law to be duly executed, acknowledged and perfected, to grant, convey and assure the same to the purchaser thereof in fee simple. Item, After the death of my wife Sarah Thompson the remainder of my estate if any be left whether real, personal or mixed I give, devise, and bequeath as follows-- To my grandchildren, Kimber Cleaver Gossler and to Charles David Gossler each one fourth of my estate, remaining and to Catherine Anne Fagely wife of Valentine Fagely the balance--one half of my estate remaining and to their heirs and assigns forever. And whereas Valentine Fagely, husband of said Catharine Anne Fagely is indebted to me for considerable sums of money loaned to him for which I hold his written obligations and which are still owing to me, it is my will and true meaning and I do hereby direct that the said indebtedness shall not be charged against the interest or share his wife has in my estate--but his wife to have her full share exclusive of said indebtedness, And lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint my said wife Sarah Thompson sole Executrix of this my last will and testament, in witness whereof I, John Thompson the testator have to this my will, written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this twenty Eight day of December A.D. one thousand eight hundred and Seventy Seven.
