Article of agreement made this 25th day of March 1834 between John Cowden & William Forsythe both of Northumberland Pa. Witnesseth that the said Cowden engages to loan to the said Forsythe one thousand dollars for one year at an interest of six per cent per annum to give the said Forsythe the use and possession of the store room now occupied by the said Cowden for the term of three years and to pay the said Forsythe one hundred dollars per year for the same time in case he continues to be post master. In consideration of which the said Forsythe engages to use the said store room as a place for retailing merchandise generally, further to attend to all the duties connected with the Post Office and to furnish the said Cowden with such articles of merchandise as he may require at first cost & carriage.
