Limric >From Newport square, go west on Market (up the hill), turn right on 6th street. Approx. .2 mile take left fork up the hill (SR 4008 & Middle Ridge Rd). Approx 2.2 miles from Newport and .2 mile from New Bloomfield Rd. on the left side is a stone marker. Beyond the marker is a dirt path and the cemetery is approx. 200 years down the hill. Earlier than the year 1800 burials were made, on the property of Philip Krick (also spelled Creek), on Middle Ridge. In 1804, Presbyterian families, throughout a vast area (extending) to Millerstown: toward Baskinville; south of the Mahanony Ridge, and toward present Ickesburg), erected a Stone Church, at that place, and on the east side of the Great Road from Carlisle to Sunbury. On March 30, 1805, Phillip Kirck and his wife, Catharine, conveyed the glebe-land, by Deed to Frances McCown, Esq. and David English Sr., Trustees of the Middle Ridge Presbyterian Congregation (successor to the old Dick's Gap Congregation, at present Pine Grove). The Congregation was dissoled on April 2, 1842, after the acquisition of the plot of land, extending northward to the Middle Ridge Road. Doubtless, the title to the plots is vested in the Presbytery, while the place remains for public interment. Members of many early, prominent and respected families rest therein. Veterans who sleep, therein, are Lt. John Ramsey, (from County Derry, Ireland), Col William Brown, John Jones Jr., William H. Bergstresser, Solomon Brown McNaughton. Harry W.
