Book A, Volume 2, pg. 308 (1868) DEED Jacob Wentz & wife to Joseph Wentz This indenture made the Twenty second day of August Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven Between Jacob Wentz and Rebecca his wife of Jackson township, Perry county and State of Pennsylvania of the first and Joseph Wentz of the County, township and state aforesaid of the second part: Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Four thousand dollars lawful money of the United States of America to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part, at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release, convey and confirm unto the (said) party of the second part, his heirs and assigns. All those two certain tracts of land situated in the township, county and State aforesaid, bounded and described as follows to wit: Beginning at a White Oak Stump thence down Shermans Creek, North four degrees, West six perches, thence North twenty degrees, East twenty six perches thence North four degrees, East forty nine perches,thence North twenty four degrees, West twenty two perches, thence North Nine degrees, West twenty one perches, North six degrees, East twelve perches, North twenty two degrees, East twenty six perches, thence North fifty eight and one half degrees. East fifty six perches to a post, thence by lands of Jacob Wentz, Sen. & Henry Wentz, South eight degrees, East thirty six and three tenth perches to a hickory thence by the same South eighty four degrees East thirty two and seven tenth perches to a hickory stump, thence by the same, South fifty five and one half degrees, East twenty six and one fifth perches to a stone, thence by land this day conveyed to George Wentz, Jr. South thirty five & one fourth degrees, West Seventy three perches to a stone thence by the same South forty five degrees East eighteen perches to a stone, thence by the same South thirty five and three fourth degrees, East seventeen and one half perches to a stone, thence by the same South forty nine and one half degrees, West Twenty two and ______ perches to a stone, thence by the same South thirty one degrees West twenty two perches to a stone, thence by lands of Jacob Wentz South eighty eight and one fourth degree, West Seventy four perches to a White Oak stump, the place of beginning containing eighty eight acres and one perch strict measure, Being a portion of a tract of land which Jacob Briner by his Indenture bearing date the sixteenth day of April the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight did grant and convey to Jacob Wentz the grantor reference being had to the above recited deed will more fully and at large appear. Tract No. 2 bounded and described as follows to wit, Beginning at a stone heap, thence by land the day conveyed to George Wentz Jr North forty five and one half degrees, West four hundred and thirty four perches to a stone heap thence by land surveyed on a warrant of John Lupt__ North fifty four and one half degrees East twenty perches to a stone heap thence by lands of George & William Stambaugh South forty five and one half degrees East four hundred and thrity four perches to a stone heap thence by lands of William Otto South fifty four and one half degrees West twenty perches to a stone heap the place of beginning, containing fifty acres and allowance of six per cent for road &c. be the same more or less, being a portion of a tract of land containing four hundred and eleven acres twenty nine perches and allowance Surveyed on May 22nd 1794 on a warrant of four hundred acres granted to William Trowberger (?) dated Jan. 3rd 1794. Together with all and singular the houses, out houses, buildings, barns, stables, ways, woods, waters, water courses, rights, liberties, privileges hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any (ways) appertaining and the reversions, remainders, rents, issues, and profits thereof; and all the estate, right, titles interest property claim and demand, whatsoever of the said parties of the first part, law equity or otherwise however, of in, to or out of the same; To have and to hold the said above described tracts of land, hereditaments, .........part, his heirs and assigns, to and for the only proper use, benefit and behoof of the aforesaid party of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Jacob Wentz Sen. & Rebecca his wife, their heirs, executors and administrators, do hereby convey grant and agree to and with the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns by these presents, that the said party of the first part their heirs all and singular the hereditaments and premises herein above described and granted or __________to be with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, against them the said parties of the first part, their heirs and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming or to claim the same or any part there of shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said parties of the first part to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Jacob Wentz (Seal) Witness James Woods Perry County Before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the said County personally came the above named Jacob Wentz Sen. and Rebecca his wife and acknowledged the above Indenture to be their act and deed to the end that the same might be recorded as such. She the said Rebecca Wentz, being of full age and by me separately and apart from her said husband examined and the contents of said Indenture being fully made known to her under private examination she declared that she voluntarily and of her own free will and accord and without any coercion or compulsion one the part of her husband did sign, seal and deliver the same. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven.
