  		Mrs. J.T. ALter Dies in Hospital
       Mrs. James T Alter entered into rest Wednesday, July 8, 1953.  She passed 
  away in th Carlisle Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past three 
  months.  Born Blanche E. Crider, October 14, 1878, in Lock Haven Pa., she was 
  the daughter on Isaac and LaRue Crider.
       Orphaned in early childhood, she made her home with her paternal 
  grandfather, Philip B. Crider, of Bellefonte, who had extensive land holdings 
  thereabout, largely timber, and who owned and operated a large match factory in 
  Bellefonte.
       She attended The Birmingham school for girls, now known as the Grier 
  School.  She also went to Wilson College and the Neff College of Oratory, in 
  Philadelphia.
       She was married on January 11, 1899, to James T. Alter and lived all her 
  married life in New Bloomfield.  Mr. and Mrs. Alter celebrated their 54th 
  wedding anniversary last January 11.  Mrs. ALter is a member of the 
  Presbyterian church.  She is survived by her husband; her daughter; Mrs. Frank 
  D. Mortimer; her brother. Furst Crider of Lack Haven, Pa., three grandchildren, 
  John, Gay and Belle Patterson; and two great-grandsons, John and Kent 
  PAtterson, all of New Bloomfield.
       Mrs. Alter made many warm friendships through the years and will be 
  greatly missed by them and her close family circle.
       The funeral serivce, conducted by the Rev. Richard Sigler, will be held at 
  2p.m. Saturday afternoon, at the funeral home in New Bloomfield.
       As the body is to be cremated, there will be no graveside service, so 
  kindly omit flowers.  Friends may call Friday evening after 7:30 at the funeral 
  home.
