EMMA BARNER Mrs. Emma A. Barner, 67, formerly of Liverpool RD. and since July 6, a patient at Good Samaritan Convalescent Home, Liverpool, died at that place Monday, August 31 at 8:10 p.m. She was born June 17, 1897, at Liverpool RD, the daughter of the late Emanuel and Louisa Hupp Shaffer. Mrs. Barner lived in the Liverpool RD area all her lifetime and was married to George B. Barner at Sunbury, March 21, 1919. He preceded her in death January 1959. She was a member of St. Thomas EUB Church, Mt. Pleasant Mills RD 2. Mrs. Barner is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Long of Liverpool and Mrs. Sallie Gelnett of Mt. Pleasant Mills RD 2; one brother, William Shaffer of Mt. Pleasant Mills RD 1: two children whom she raised, Mrs. Arthur Strawser and Edward Wertz, both of Selinsgrove; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m.from the Garman funeral home, Liverpool, with Rev. Leroy K. Sholes, pastor of the Liverpool EUB Church, officiating. Interment was made in Barner's Church cemetery, Liverpool RD. Clipping [1964]
