Boyer, 75, of Millerstown RD1, died Thursday at 7:10 p.m. in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, where he was a patient since June 26. A native of Oriental, Perry County, he received his education in the Juniata County schools. His family moved to that county while he was a young boy. Following his schooling, Mr. Boyer moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he became employed as a machine operator in a foundry. On July 17, 1919, he was united in marriage with the former Katie Barner, then of Liverpool. The couple lived in Perry and Juniata Counties, operating a farm at New Bloomfield. Mr. Boyer was also employed as a machinist by the Penn Central Railroad. He retired in 1962. A veteran of world War I, he received his honorable discharge in 1918. Born May 27, 1897, in Oriental, he was the son of the late Frank and Emma Chubb Boyer. Mr. Boyer was a member of the New Bloomfield V.F.W. Post No. 7463, the Newport American Legion Post No. 17*, the Newport Loyal Order of Moose No. 1562 and the Newport Social Order of Owls. Surviving him, in addition to his widow, are four daughters: Mrs. George McGowan of Millerstown RD1, Mrs. Uri* Nailor of Newport RD2, Mrs. Harley Hulbert of Newport RD and Mrs. Ralph Kimmel of Elliottsburg; one son, Bruce Boyer of Millerstown RD1; 2 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Glenn Vergon of Buchanan, Mich. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 2 p.m. from the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Donald L. Matthews, pastor of the New Bloomfield United Methodist Yoked Parish, officiating. Burial will follow in Barner's Church Cemetery, Liverpool RD1.
