EARNEST, 80, RR1 MILLERSTOWN MILLERSTOWN - Mary Ida Earnest, 80, of RR1 Millerstown, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, at her home. She had been in ill health for several years. She was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Susquehanna Township, a daughter of the late John Calvin and Catherine V. (Erlmeyer) Spicher. On June 15, 1935, she married William Henry Earnest, who died June 11, 1980. Mrs. Earnest was educated in Juniata County rural schools. A homemaker and mother, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and trout fishing in the family pond. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, RR1 Millerstown. She was also a member of the Millerstown Ambulance League and the Women of the Moose Chapter 21, Millerstown. Surviving are three sons, John C. of RR1 Newport, Willard P. of RR1 Elliottsburg and Steve A. at home; one daughter, Betty J. Cassell at home; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathryn Troutman of Sunbury. Mrs. Earnest was preceded in death by one daughter, Katheryn M. Rheam, March 28, 1981; and three brothers, Clarence, Lloyd and Lee Spicher. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, by the Rev. Ray Hatcher. Burial will be in St. John (Barners) Lutheran Cemetery, RR1 Liverpool. Visitors may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. There will be no viewing Friday evening. Clipping (1996)
