The dead were identified as Gene C. Hockenbroch, 17, of Liverpool, his 15-year-old brother Allen, and Stephen Sarver, 17, of West Grove, according to Duncannon state police. This raised the highway fatality number in the area to four for 1973. Perry County coroner Eugene A. Shoop, Newport RD2, pronounced the three dead at the scene. He attributed causes of death of the three to fractured skulls and necks, multiple abrasions and lacerations and probable massive internal injuries. The coroner reported that the Hockenbroch brothers died instantly and that Sarver "may have lived a couple of minutes" after the accident but most probably was unconscious. State police said the 10:40 p.m. accident happened as the car, driven by the older Hockenbroch brother, was traveling north on Rt. 17, three-fourths of a mile south of Liverpool Borough , in Liverpool Township. A trooper reported that the vehicle apparently went out of control, crossed into the opposite lane of the highway, struck the guard post, became airborne over a creek, smashed into an embankment and rolled over. Police said they didn't know where the three youths had been or how fast their car was traveling at the time of the crash. The Liverpool and Duncannon fire companies assisted at the scene. Funeral arrangements will be announced Monday by the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool.
