Pleasant Mills R. D. 2, Juniata County, Susquehanna Township died very suddenly Monday morning, November 28th at 2:10 o'clock at his residence. Death was due to a heart attack and was totally unexpected as Mr. Hockenbroch had been enjoying good health. He was born on September 28, 1902, at Liverpool, R. D. 1, the son of the late Calvin and Annie Kerstetter Hockenbroch. His entire lifetime was spent in Juniata County, where he farmed and worked periodically at various public works including the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot, and the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company. Following World War II, he became engaged in the poultry and egg business at his home, retiring in 1963. On February 10, 1923 he was united in marriage with the former Ruth Strawser, of Richfield R.D. The ceremony was performed by the late Rev. Rauch, then pastor of the Richfield EUB Charge and was solemnized in the parsonage at Richfield R. D. Mr. Hockenbroch was a member of the Oriental Church of the Brethren, and its Sunday School, Juniata County. He was also a township road supervisor for Susquehanna Township. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Palmer W., of Richfield Star Route, Woodrow C. of Liverpool R. D. 1, and Carl L. of Mt. Pleasant Mills R. D. 2; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Diehl, of Harrisburg; two brothers, Delvin Hockenbroch and Paul Hockenbroch, both of Liverpool R. D. 1; and a foster sister, Sarah Gibson, of Selinsgrove. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Maynard Hockenbroch. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Garman funeral home, North Front Street, Liverpool with his pastor, Rev. John Zellers officiating and assisted by Rev. Ira Brandt, a former pastor who is currently serving in Elizabethtown. Interment was made in Barner's Church Cemetery, Liverpool. Clipping November 28, 1966
