All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/perry/ _______________________________________________ William Luther Lyter MIFFLINTOWN - William Luther Lyter, 81, formerly of Harrisburg, died Friday morning, Dec. 20, 1996, at the Brookline Manor Nursing Home, Mifflintown RR1, where he resided for the past four years. Born in Port Royal, he was a son of the late George C. and Lottie (Erlenmeyer) Lyter. His stepmother, Margaret (Frankhouse) Lyter, who adopted him, survives at the Brookline Retirement Village, Mifflintown RR1. Also surviving are a stepbrother, Richard A. Beaver, Winter Haven, Fla., and a stepsister, Eleanor Hertzler, Port Royal. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Lyter. A 1933 graduate of Montoursville High School and 1937 graduate of Penn State, he served in World War II in the U.S. Army. He worked as a supervisor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, retiring after many years of service. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Harrisburg. He was a member of the American Legion Post #27, Harrisburg, for 58 years. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, with the Rev. Ray Hatcher officiating. Interment of ashes will be private in the Banners (sic)* Church Cemetery, Liverpool RR1. There will be no viewing or visitation.
