She was a sufferer for a great many years (altho (sic) able to care for her aged mother who preceded her April 3, 1924) becoming bedfast with toxemia two weeks prior to her death. She was the daughter of Isaac and Mary Deppen Witmer and was born near Dalmatia. She was united in marriage to John R. VanOrmer, who died 34 years ago. Since that time she made her home with her parents, remaining at the parental home after her mother died, from which funeral services were conducted followed by services at Barner's church by Rev. G. D. Strail, Liverpool. On May 1, 1897 she united with the Barner's Reformed church. She was an earnest Christian, performing her duties conscientiously and living such a life that when the Angel of Death came she was not only ready but willing and anxious to go. She was a loving mother and kind neighbor and will be missed by all who knew her. At her request her body was laid to rest in Barner's Cemetery Friday, May 16, 1924. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Theron Brandt of Duncannon, who was with her in her last illness and 3 grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers. She was a foster mother to a nephew and niece, Witmer and Ruth Brookhart to whom she gave a mother's love and guidance and who mourn her sincerely.
