Witmer LIVERPOOL, PA - Mrs. Helen Marie Witmer, 92, formerly of RR #2, Liverpool, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 22, 2003, in the Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool, PA, where she had resided since September 20, 2000. She was born on October 27, 1910, in Liverpool, Perry County, PA, the daughter of the late George C. and Mable (Shaffer) Long. On March 26, 1938, she was married to Leroy H. Witmer, who preceded her on July 10, 1981. Mrs. Witmer graduated from the former Liverpool High School. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse for the former Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Liverpool, PA, for many years. She was a member of St. John (Barners) Lutheran Church, RR #1, Liverpool, PA, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Liverpool Fire Company. She was a former member of the Liverpool Civic Club. Mrs. Witmer was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed crocheting. Surviving are 4 children; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Rodney L. Witmer and wife, Janette of Millerstown, PA., James A. Witmer and wife, Paula F. of RR #2, McAlisterville, PA, Dale E. Witmer of Mechanicsburg, PA; 1 daughter and son-in- law, Dawn L. Camble and husband, Alan D. of Mechanicsburg, PA; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Kenneth Long of Duncannon, PA and 1 sister, Carrie Shirk of Liverpool, PA. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at 2 p.m., from St. John (Barners) Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Peter H. Kuebler, officiating. Burial will follow the services in the adjoining church cemetery. Family and friends will gather for the viewing on Tuesday evening, from 7-9 p.m., in The George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front Street, Liverpool, PA, after which the casket will be closed. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service, at the church. Should friends desire, memorial gifts may be directed in loving memory of Mrs. Witmer to St. John (Barners) Lutheran Church, 5 Barner Road, Liverpool, PA 17045.
