Long, Of Liverpool George Clayton Long, 80, of North Market Street, Liverpool, died at 7 a.m. today at his residence. He had been in failing health for a number of years. He was born July 31, 1885, in Liverpool Township, Liverpool R.D., the son of the late George E. and Fianna Knouse Long. Mr. Long was married to the former Mabel Shaffer, in 1910. She was a Snyder County native. The couple farmed at Liverpool R.D. until 1942 when they took up residence in Liverpool and at which time Mr. Long began working as a capital policeman in Harrisburg. After working there two years he took up employment with Lesher's Meat Market in Liverpool. He was later employed by the W. W. Boone Poultry and Egg House at Liverpool R.D., and retired in 1948. Mr. Long was a faithful member of Barner's Lutheran Church and Sunday school, Liverpool R.D., the Oriental POS of A, and the Liverpool Fire Company. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Helen, Mrs. Leroy Witmer of Liverpool R.D., and Carrie, Mrs. Blaine Shirk of Liverpool; one son, Kenneth of Liverpool; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Vertie Delbaugh of Liverpool. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Garman funeral home, North Front Street, Liverpool, with his pastor, Rev. Theodore Lindquist, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Barner's Church Cemetery, Liverpool R.D. Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday evening. Serving as pallbearers are: Glenn Deckard, Lloyd Deckard, Roy Long, Albert Barner, William Good, and Robert Freed.
