He was a retired poultry farmer and excavator and a member of Barner's Cemetery Association and St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, Liverpool RR 1, where he was a former council member. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Maxine Foose Long; a son, Kenneth R. of Millerstown RR 2; a daughter, Kathy M. Sheaffer of Newport RR 2; two brothers, Truman E. of Hummelstown and W. Palmer of Liverpool RR 1; seven sisters, Margaret P. Smeltzer of Harrisburg; Julia M. Koller of Liverpool, Susan J. Hoff of Liverpool RR 1, Blanche E. Wallis of Liverpool RR 2, Carol J. Wilfong of Duncannon, Mildred A. Murphy of Palmyra and Isabelle A. Cameron of Hesston RR 1; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson. Services were held Saturday, Sept. 3, in his church with the Rev. Robert J. Wittlinger Jr., Rev. William C. Butts and Rev. A. O. Magill officiating. Burial was in Barner's Cemetery, Liverpool RR 1. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, handled arrangements.
