Quigley learned of this death, which occurred at his home near Dellville Monday night of last week. Mr. Quigley had not been in good health for some time past, as the result of a stroke of paralysis, and his death was caused by another stroke. His remains were interred on Friday morning. David F. Quigley was a son of Hugh W. and Sophia (Frey) Quigley. His father was a native of York County and came to Perry County in 1801. David F. Quigley received his education in the public schools and at the Bloomfield and Landisburg Academies. He taught school when a young man and for a time was engaged in the saddlery and shoemaking business in this town. He was twice married, the first time in 1873 to Elizabeth J. Turner, who died February 17, 1874. One child was born to this union, John Martin. IN 1879 Mr. Quigley was married to Miss Emma Roth, daughter of the late John Roth, of Centre Township, who survives with ten children. The deceased was a kind, intelligent gentleman and had many warm friends who deeply regret his death. He led a useful, busy life and will be greatly missed. We extend to the bereaved widow and children our sincere sympathy. A friend sent us the following: David F. Quigley was born in Centre Township, September 14, 1844, and died January 2nd, 1905 aged 60 years, 3 months and 18 days. The deceased was one of Perry County's most estimable and public spirited citizens and will be greatly missed by a host of friends. He is survived by the wife and ten children, namely: J.M. Quigley, M.D. of Shawville, Clearfield, County, Bessie, Lizzie and Carrie of Philadelphia, Effie and Ida, of Duncannon, and Hugh, David, Alcena and Clinton at home, one daughter, Pearl, preceded him and will greet him at the "Pearly Gates". He entered the valley with full assurance of the saving power of Jesus' blood and expressed satisfaction that his heart was right with God and requested all to so live that they might meet him in Heaven. In this death we lose a most devoted husband, a loving and indulgent father, a faithful friend and neighbor and a noble and industrious citizen. "Requiescat in Peace."
