Shaffer LIVERPOOL – Arlene Mildred Shaffer, 74, of 200 S. Front St., formerly of RR 1, died Sunday in Holy Spirit Hospital. She was a graduate of Liverpool High School and seamstress for Liverpool Dress Factory, member of St. James United Methodist Church and its Sunday school class, Liverpool Senior Citizens and Ambulance League. She was the widow of Clayton Stahl Shaffer. Surviving are a son, Larry, of Millerstown; two sisters, Betty Willow of Millerstown and Pauline Lenig of Liverpool; three grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garman Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John's Barners Lutheran Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Shaffer, 74, Liverpool LIVERPOOL – Arlene M. Shaffer, 74, of 200 S. Front St., formerly of RR1 Liverpool, died at 1:08 a.m. Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, where she was admitted April 14. She had been ill for the past two months. She was born April 30, 1923, at RR1 Liverpool, a daughter of the late William Maynard and Verna (Frymoyer) Hockenbroch. On Oct. 18, 1947, she married Clayton Stahl Shaffer, who died May 22, 1991. She was a 1941 graduate of Liverpool High School. A dedicated homemaker and mother, she was employed as a seamstress by the Liverpool Dress Factory. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, RR2 Millerstown, and it's Sunday school. She was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons; Liverpool Senior Citizens; and the Liverpool Ambulance League. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, quilting and was known as an accomplished seamstress. Her family especially enjoyed her baking and cooking. Surviving are one son and his wife, Larry E. and Crystal M. of Millerstown; three grandchildren, Jenny, Megan and Grace, all of Millerstown; and two sisters, Betty Willow of RR1 Millerstown and Pauline Lenig of Liverpool. Mrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by one infant brother and one sister, Hazel A. Hoffman, Jan. 9, 1979. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, by the Rev. Arthur L. Montgomery of Millerstown United Methodist Church. Burial will be in St. John's (Barners) Lutheran Cemetery, RR1 Liverpool. Visitors may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Perry County Unit, 33C S.
