Sheaffer, 81, Liverpool LIVERPOOL – Alma Kathryn Sheaffer, 81, entered into eternal rest at 12:35 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was a resident of the Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool, for nearly four years. She was born at RR1 Millerstown, Sugar Run, a daughter of the late John Earl and Estella Esther (Brown) Harris. On Aug. 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Edward R. Sheaffer, who preceded her in death October 1982. Mrs. Sheaffer was educated in the Loysville orphanage school. She was employed by the Department of Revenue in Harrisburg, where she worked for eight years and in the New Bloomsfield Dress Factory, Newport, where she was a seamstress and trimmer for 20 years before her retirement. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed flowers, reading and solving crossword puzzles. She transferred her EUB membership to St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church on her marriage and was honored for more than 50 years as a member there several years ago. She was also a member of the Liverpool Ambulance League. She is survived by six children: two sons, William R. Sheaffer of RR1 Liverpool and David E. Sheaffer of Liverpool; four daughters and three sons-in- law, Bonnie Kay and Gerald Strawser of Liverpool, Joyce E. Hockenberry of RR1 Liverpool and Pauletta A. and David Lyter of RR1 Liverpool, and Mary E. and Delhert Gebhardt of RR1 Liverpool; five grandchildren, Douglas Murray, Debra Cameron, Kathy Murray, Angela Paifalvi and Mandy Sheaffer; three great- grandchildren, Joshua Murray, Kalyn D'Errico and Gabrielle Cameron; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Naomi Harris of Scranton; and three generations of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sheaffer was preceded in death by one grandson, Paul Raymond Murray Jr. There will be no viewing. Family and friends will gather for the visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, 5 Barner Raod, Liverpool. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church by the Rev. Peter H. Kueber. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
