Shope, 80, RR1 Liverpool Retired seamstress LIVERPOOL – Maggie May Shope, 80, of RR1 Liverpool died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1996, at her home, and had been in ill health for a few years. Mrs. Shope was born March 2, 1915, in Liverpool, Perry County, a daughter of the late John and Lillian (Casey) Goodling. Her husband, George Mahlon Shope, died Sept. 20, 1994. Mrs. Shope was educated in the Perry County schools. A seamstress for more than 25 years, Mrs. Shope worked in many shirt and dress factories in Richfield, Millerstown, Liverpool and Mount Pleasant Mills, retiring in the late 1970s at age 62. Mrs. Shope was a Protestant and was a member of the Liverpool Ambulance League. Mrs. Shope also enjoyed and was accomplished in crocheting and crafting. Surviving are two sons, Marlin G. with whom she lived, and Maynard L., both of RR1 Liverpool; five daughters, Catherine M. Cluck and Marie A. Shelley, both of RR1 Richfield, Viola M. Mateer of RR1 Mount Pleasant Mills, Irene E. Troutman of RR2 Mount Pleasant Mills and Bertha Lamey of RR1 Mill Hall; 36 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; four brothers, Woodrow Goodling of RR2 Millerstown, Charles Goodling of RR2 Liverpool, Kenneth Goodling of RR1 Mount Pleasant Mills and Lyle Goodling of North Carolina; and two sisters, Florence Kerstetter of RR2 Mount Pleasant Mills and Mary Hile of RR1 Liverpool. Mrs. Shope was preceded in death by one son, Mahlon; one daughter, Mildred F. Strawser; two grandchildren; and seven brothers, Harry, George, Wesley, Norman, Henry, Earl and Ray Goodling. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, by the Rev. James A. Neimond. Burial will be in Barners (St. John) Cemetery, RR1 Liverpool. Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Newspaper and date unknown ----- Funeral Card: In memory of Maggie M.
