Witmer, 82, RR1 Liverpool Nursing home cook LIVERPOOL – Mildred Olive Witmer, 82, of RR1 Liverpool, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 1996, at her home. Mrs. Witmer was born Jan. 8, 1914, at RR1 Liverpool, a daughter of the late Milton and Pearl (Barner) Gelnett. On March 26, 1938, she married W. Ray Witmer, who died Jan. 19, 1978. Mrs. Witmer was a graduate of Liverpool High School. A homemaker and mother, Mrs. Witmer cooked for the dietary department of the Good Samaritan Nursing and Convalescent Home, Liverpool for many years. A long-time member, former Sunday school teacher and former council member of the St. John's (Barners) Lutheran Church, RR1 Liverpool, Mrs. Witmer was a past member of the Liverpool Civic Club; judge of election for Liverpool Township for many years; and member of the Liverpool Fire Company and Ambulance League, Liverpool. Surviving are one son, Sidney W. and one daughter, Darla R. Watkins, both of RR1 Liverpool; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Ardella Cauffman of RR1 Millerstown and Marie Shirk of Selinsgrove. Mrs. Witmer was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton B. Gelnett and also Bruce Gelnett, in infancy; and one granddaughter, Patricia Ann Watkins, in infancy. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the St. Johns (Barners) Lutheran Church, RR1 Liverpool, by the Rev. Robert J. Wittlinger Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool.
