Ray Witmer, 63, Liverpool RD 1, Perry County, died at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 in the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, where he had been admitted several hours earlier after suffering a heart attack in his home. Mr. Witmer had been employed as supervisor for the Pennsylvania Higher Education Agency, Harrisburg, for the past 15 years. He operated, in conjunction with his brother, Leroy, Witmer Brothers Grain and Feed Dealers, Liverpool RD 1. He was serving as a Perry County auditor. He was a Republican committeeman for Liverpool Township, and a commissioner of Liverpool Boy Scout Troop 91. Born Feb. 27, 1914, in Liverpool RD1, he was the son of the late William H. and Ida Clemens Witmer. He farmed early in his life. In 1938, he married the former Mildred O. Gelnett, who survives. Mr. Witmer was a member of St. John's (Barner's) Lutheran Church and Sunday School, Liverpool RD 1, and of the Liverpool Fire Company. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James Watkins of Liverpool RD 1; one son, Sidney W. of Liverpool RD 1; five grandchildren; and one brother, Leroy H. Witmer of Liverpool RD 1. The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool. The Rev. Chrales (sic) L. Stetler officiated.
