William Dehaven "Yeoman" was a son of Peter and Sidonia (Levering) Dehaven. He was born, [1714] probably in Whitpain Township in what is now Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. On 31 March 1739 in the First Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, He was married to Hannah Cromber. [Ed. Also seen as Cramer, Oramber, Crambler] On Dec. 10, 1742 Peter Indehove and wife Elizabeth of Whitpain granted unto "William Indehove, son of said Peter," 55 Acres of land in Whitpain, part of the 105 acre tract bought by Peter from Thomas Thomas of Radnor, June 9, 1720. This tract was bounded beginning at a post - southeast thence southwest by land of Peter Indehove - northwest to William Robinson's land - to place of beginning. On the 24th of June 1768 David Dickinson sold William Dehaven 16 acres adjoining William's "other lands," bounded also by the lands of John Robinson, Thomas White, and Edward Roberts. As William Dehaven held 70 acres in Whitpain at the time of his death it seems probable that this was his homestead tract. All the early tax records show William Dehaven living in Whitpain and he was taxed for 70 acres, when acreage was given, through 1783. His executors were his two sons Samuel and Abram. John and Samuel Dehaven and John Evans affirmed the making of the will. On June 13, 1786, Samuel and wife Catherine, Abraham and wife Ann, sold 74 acres in Whitpain - "lands of their father William" to George Reiff of Lower Salford, for 800 pounds. William died on 10 September 1784 at age 70 years. Hannah died on 25 June 1786 at age 69 years. Both are buried at Boehm's Church, Blue Bell, Whitpain Township. John Jones Samuel Dehaven was the son of William Dehaven and Hannah (Cromber/Cramer) Dehaven. He was born in 1746 in Whitpain Township, Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County, Pennsylvania. About 1771 he married Catherine Ramey. Samuel Dehaven lived in Whitpain Township as a tanner until 1774 when for $1675 he bought 150 acres from Edward Roberts and wife Ellin, "Messuage or tenement and plantation situate in Horsham," bounded by lands of John Adamson. John Williams, Jacob Schweitzer, Edward Bright and Hannah Foulkes. He sold 8 acres contiguous to lands of Paul Dowlin to Paul Dowlin, neighbor of Jacob Wright. Samuel bought other lands so that in 1811-1813 he was taxed for 225 acres. He was referred to as both tanner and yeoman. Until his sons became ofage, Samuel and his brother were the only Dehavens in Horsham Township. He was "Samuel Dehaven of Horsham" at the time of his death. On April 26, 1802, John Wright of London Britain Twp., Chester Co., sold 198 acres to Samuel Dehaven of Horsham Twp. and Jesse Dehaven of Gwyned Twp. Samuel later deeded this to Jesse, his son. War service - as a private, 7th class, under Capt. David Dowlin, Samuel Dehaven was ordered to march out of Horsham 13 Aug 1780; he was also in Capt. David Marpole's Fifth Company, First Battalion, Philadelphia County Militia, private 7th class, on the undated lists marching out and returning. Jacob Wright, father of his future son-in-law, was in the same Company, first class. Samuel Dehaven b. 1746, d. 1821 m. Catherine Ramey, b. d. abt 1827 Children: Phoebe Dehaven unm. He was born in 1748 in Whitpain Township, Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County, Pennsylvania. The name of Jesse's wife is not known. Jesse was living upon the homestead plantation with his mother, Hannah, when William's heirs made an appeal to the court. The tax record for 1785 shows that Jesse was farming for Samuel (the executor) 70 acres of the estate. By 1786 Jesse was no longer listed in Whitpain Township. In 1787 the name appears in Lower Marion Township taxed for 2 horses and 3 cattle. In 1790 he was enumerated in Roxborough Township, Philadelphia Co, PA with wife and three children. William Dehaven b. 3 Aug 1782 d. 29 Jul 1824 m. 7 Dec 1807, Mary McKeever, b. 1782 of Philadelphia Abraham Dehaven was a son of William Dehaven and his wife Hanna (Cromber) Dehaven. He was born in Whitpain Township, Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County, Pennsylvania, in 1750. His wife was Ann, on June 10, 1785. "Abraham Dehaven of Plymouth Township" acting with his brother Samuel as executor of his father, William's, will sold the estate of 74 3/4 Acres in Whitpain; both signed the deeds; the land was at once deeded back to Samuel and Abraham Dehaven. In William Dehaven's settlement papers, Samuel and Abraham both signed the first account rendered in 1785-1786. The second account rendered 25 Aug 1787 was signed only by Samuel... "the above named Samuel Dehaven acting as executor (the other executor being absent)... The tax records of 1774 (Effective Supply Tax) show Abraham living in Horsham Township. He was there until 1783. In 1783 his name appeared in Whitemarsh - he may have lived on a borderline farm, Plymouth - Whitemarsh. At no time was he recorded as taxed for land. It was undoubtably he who served with his brother Samuel from Horsham in Capt. David Marpole's 5th Company, First Battalion, Philadelphia County Militia, in the Revolutionary War, as there was no other Dehaven family in Horsham Township at that time. On June 13, 1786, Abraham Dehaven of Plymouth and wife Ann signed the deed for 74 acres of William Dehaven's land in Whitpain to George Reiff of Lower Salford. This sale was made for 80 pounds in settlement of William's estate. Abraham acting as co-executor with Samuel. The land was owned jointly by Abraham, Ann, Samuel and Catherine. Abraham's occupation was never given. Abraham appears in Center Twp, Indiana Co, PA on the 1810 census. Abraham Dehaven b. 1750 m.
