Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia County, ss

BE IT KNOWN, THAT on the day of the date hereof, before me,  William L. 
Norton  Esquire, one of the Justices of the Peace, in and for the County of 
Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, personally appeared  Henry 
Litchfield  an AMERICAN SEAMAN, aged  twenty four  years, or thereabouts, of 
the height of  Five  feet  five 1/2   inches, has  chesnut  hair,  hazle  
eyes, and  dark  complexion,  has a scar on the left side of his throat  who 
being duly Sworn  did depose and say, That he is a native of  Newbern  in the 
State of North Carolina and a Citizen of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

AND  Stephen Riggs  being duly  Sworn  did depose and say, That the facts 
above stated are true according to the best of his knowledge and belief.

ninth  day of  April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and 
twenty  five.
