CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, ss

Be it Known, THAT on the day of the date hereof, before me the subscriber, one 
of the Aldermen of the CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Personally appeared  Neptune 
Charles Pancutt  who being duly Sworn according to Law doth on his solemn Oath 
depose and say, that  Some time in May 1809  as this Deponent verily believes, 
he received from the Custom-House in this City a certain Protection, which 
said Protection  which was burnt by accident  and that to this Deponent’s best 
knowledge and belief the said Protection never was used as a Protection by any 
person whatsoever but himself, and that he will, should he again recover it, 
immediately restore it to the Collector of this port.

SWORN as above, before me,				Neptune Charles Pamcutt
this  31  day of  August  1809
