Jane, wife of Benjamin Isaac Humphrey was formerly married to Stephen Brown who died in Philadelphia in 1776. Jane and Issac removed from Philadelphia to Lincoln, Loudoun County, VA. LAND TRADE BETWEEN PA AND VA - Between Humphrey/Brown and Humphrey OBLIGATION: Know all men by these presents that we Jacob Humphreys of Montgomery Township in the County of Philadelphia and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Esquire, and John G. Humphreys of the same place, Yeoman, are held and firmly bound unto Isaac Humphreys of Upper Dublin Township in the County and Commonwealth aforesaid, Yeoman, and Jane his wife, in the sum of Two Thousand Pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania, to be paid to the said Isaac Humphreys and Jane his wife or either of them their or either of their certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators, or assigns: To the which payment will and truly to be made, We do hereby bind ourselves our heirs Executors and Administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals dated the first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four. 1784. WHEREAS the abovenamed Isaac Humphreys and Jane his wife have bargained and exchanged their Plantation situate in Upper Dublin aforesaid containing 73 acres, more or less with the Improvements and appurtenances, to and with the above bounden Jacob Humphreys for a certain plantation situate in Loudon (Loudoun) County in the State of Virginia, which he the said Jacob Humprheys purchased of Thomas Drake and which is now in the tenure of Aaron Boorum, containing 210 acres, more or less, with the improvements and appurtenances, in the following manner, that is to say, the said Isaac Humphrey and Jane his wife is to make execute and acknowledge or cause so to be done a good lawful and sufficient Title or Deed of Conveyance in fee simple for the abovesaid 73 acres of Land with the improvements and appurtenances unto the above bounden Jacob Humphrey on the Day of the Date hereof, upon the said Jacob Humphreys paying or securing to be paid unto the said Isaac Humphrey and Jane his wife teh sum of 200 pounds lawful money of PA and the said Jacob Humphrey is, without any further or other consideration, to make execute and acknowledge or cause so to be done a good lawful and sufficient Title or Deed of Conveyance in fee simple to the abovesaid Isaac Humphreys and to his heirs and assigns forever, for 150 acres, part of the abovesaid 210 acres, with the improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging, and that on or before the 25th day of March thence next ensuring the Date thereof; adn is also at the same time to make execute and acknowledge or cause to be done, unto the said Jane Humphrey and to her Heirs and Assigns forever, for 60 acres the residue of the said 210 acres, a good lawful and sufficient Title or Deed of Conveyance in fee simple. The said 60 acres with the improvements and appurtenances to be taken off the end of said tract of 210 acres, which joyneth to CARTERS land and to extend from thence so far on said tract of 210 acres, as by a line drawn parallel to said CARTERS line will include the said 60 acres of land. NOW THE CONDITION of this obligation in such that if the herein before bounden Jacob Humphrey and John G. Humphrey or either of them their or either of their heirs, executors or administrators shall and do well adn truly make execute and acknowledge or cause so to be done a good lawful and sufficient Title or Deed of Conveyanc ein fee simple, unto the herein beforenamed Isaac Humphreys his heirs and assigns for the hereinbefore mentioned 150 acres of land with the improvements and appurtenances, and that on or before the 25th day of March thence next ensuing the date hereof; and also on the same day shall and do well and truly make execute and acknowledge or cause so to be done a good lawful and sufficient Title or Deed of Conveyance in fee simple, unto the herein before named Jane Humphreys, her heirs and assigns, for the herein before mentioned 60 acres of land with the improvements and appurtenances thereunto beloning, without any fraud or further dleay then the herein before mentioned obligation to be void and of none effect, or else to be and remain in full force and vitue. Sealed and Delviered in the presence of us: NB: The words (John G.) being first interlined; John Mann and Robert Loller. Signed: Jacob Humphrey (with red wax seal next to name) and John G. Humphrey (w/red wax seal next to name) KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we Jacob Humphrey of Montgomery Township in the County of Philadelphia and Commonwealth of PA, Esquire, and John G. Humphrey of teh same place, Yeoman, are held and firmly bound unto Jane Humphrey (the wife of Isaac Humphrey) of Upper Dublin Township in the County aforesaid and Robert LOLLER of Horsham in the County aforesaid, surveyor in the sum of 1,000 pounds lawful money of PA to be paid to the said Jane Brown (aka Humphrey) and Robert LOLLER or eithe rof them, their or either of their certain attorney, executors, administrators, or assigns to which payment will and truly to be made we do bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals dated the first day of September the year of our Lord 1784. THE CONDITION of this present obligation is such that if the said Jacob Humphrey adn John G. Humphrey or either of them their or either of their heirs executors or administrators shall and do make execute and acknoawledge or cause so to be done unto the said Jane Humphrey and to her heirs and assigns forever a good lawful and sufficient Title or Deed of Conveyance in fee simple of all encumbrances for certain 60 acres of land situate in Loudoun County in the State of VA as the same is described and set forth in certain Articles of Agreement made between the said Isaac Humphrey and Jane his wife of the one part and of the said Jacob Humphreys of the other part bearing date the 16th day of August last part, and that at or upon the 25th day of February next ensuing the date hereof, without any fraud or further delay then the above obligation to be void or else to be and remain in full force and viture.
