This Indenture made the fifteenth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty two Between Jacob Van Reid, Storekeeper and Margaret, his Wife, Henry Winnemore, Jacob Klicher,Tobacconist and Mary, his Wife and Conrad Ort, Tobacconist and Catharine, his Wife, all of the City of Philadelphia of the one Part and John Corman,Sugar Refiner, Godfrey Haga, Shopkeeper, Conrad Gerhart, Baker, Adam Goos, Yeoman, George Schlosser, Merchant and John Peter, Baker all of the said City of the other Part. Whereas Lawrence Kuntz, the Father of the said Margaret Van Reid and Grandfather of the said Henry Winnemore, Mary Klicher and Catharine Ort was in his life time seized in his demesne as of Fee of and in A Certain lot of land Situate on the South Side of Sassafras Street between Second Street and Bread Street in the said City containing in breadth on the said Sassafras Street Seventy five feet and a half and in length or depth One hundred and two feet Bounded Northward by the said Sassafras Street Eastward by Ground late of James Parrock now of the Heirs of Jacob Walter deceased. Southward by Ground late of William Pyewell, now of Jacob Uday and westward by Ground of the United Brethren Church. Together with the appurtenances which Lot of Land and premises James Parrock of the said City of Philadelphia, Shipwright and Hannah, his Wife by indenture of Lease and Release bearing date respective by the first and second days of January 1739-40 granted unto the said Lawrence Kuntz his Heirs and Assigns in Subject Nevertheless to a yearly Ground Rent of Three pounds Sixteen Shillings and six pence lawful money of Pennsylvania payable to the said James Parrock his Heirs and Assigns forever And the said Lawrence Kuntz being seized of the premesis in his Estate as aforesaid died Intestate leaving a Widow named Maria and two Daughters namely the said Margaret Van Reid and one Amy who intermarried with Henry Winnemore to which two Daughters—his Estate in the Premesis descended in equal parts Subject to the Dower of the Intestate Widow And Whereas the said Widow Maria Kuntz lately departed this life and the said Amy Winnemor and her husband Henry are both dead. The said Amy’s Moiety in the Premesis descended unto her said three children Henry Winnemore, Mary Klicher and Catharine Ort parties hereto besides one Daughter named Eve who several years ago left Philada. and it is not known whether she is dead or living or has any Issue or not And Whereas the said Parties of the first part have agreed with the said Parties of the second Part upon the absolute Sale and purchase of all the said Lot of Land and Premesis Including the Legal Share of the said Eve Winnemor which is reckoned to be the One Tenth Part of the Whole for the Price or Consideration of Five hundred pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania in Specie of Gold and Silver. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said John Van Reid and Margaret his Wife, Henry Winnemor, Jacob Klicher and Mary, his Wife and Conrad Ort and Catharine, his Wife for and in Consideration of the said Sum of Five hundred pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania in the specie aforesaid unto them at or immediately before the Sealing and delivery hereof by the said John Corman,Godfrey Haga, Conrad Gerhart, Adam Gaas, George Schlosser and John Peter will and truly paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Hare granted bargained and sold aliened enfeoffed released and confirmed And by these presents do grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff release and confirm unto the said John Corman, Godfrey Haga, Conrad Gerhart, Adam Gaas, George Schlosser and John Peter to to their Heirs and Assigns. All That Lot of Land in and by the said above recited Indenture by the said James Parrock and Hannah his Wife to the said Lawrence Kuntz granted and conveyed Situate bounded and being as the same is wherein before or in the said Recited Indenture described Together with all the Buildings Improvements there on erected and made And all the Ways waters Watercourses Rights members and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging And the Reversions and Remainders Rights Issues and Profits thereof And all the Estate Rights Title Interest Profitably Clouse and ? whatsoever of them the said Jacob Van Reid and Margaret his Wife and her heirs and the said Henry Wennemor and his Heirs, the said Jacob Klicher and Mary his Wife and his Heirs, the said Conrad Ort and Catharine his Wife and her Heirs and the said Eve Wennemor and her heirs of in and to the same to have and to hold the said hereby granted premesis with the appurtenances the said John Corman, Godfrey Haga, Conrad Gerhart, Adam Gaas, George Schlosser and John Peter their Heirs and Assigns To and for the only proper use and Behoof the said John Corman, Godfrey Haga, Conrad Gerhart, Adam Gaas, George Schlosser and John Peter their Heirs and Assigns forever Under and Subject to the said Yearly Ground Rent of three Pounds Sixteen Shillings and Six pence and as the same from hence forth shall accrue and the said Jacob Van Reid and Margaret his Wife and their Heirs, the said Henry Wennamor and his Heirs, the said Jacob Klieder and Mary his Wife and their Heirs and the said Conrad Ort and Catharine his Wife and their Heirs All and singular the Lot of Ground and premesis thereby granted with the Appurtenances unto the said John Corman, Godfred Haga, Conrad Gerhart, Adam Gaas, George Schlosser and John Peter their Heirs and assigns against them the said Jacob Van Reid and Margaret his Wife, Henry Winnemor, Jacob Klicher and Mary his Wife, Conrad Ort and Catherine his Wife and the said Eve Winnemor and their Heirs and against the Heirs of the said Lawrence Kuntz deceased and against all and every other person and persons lawfully claiming as to Claim by from or under them as any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Parties have interchangeably set their Hands and Seals hereunto dated the day and year first above written.
