Evans This indenture between Philip Winemore of the City of Philadelphia, Porter, and Elizabeth Winemore, of the one part and John C. Evans of the said City, Iron Monger, of the other part… John C. Evans to pay $4,500 lawful money of the United States. Originally bought from Mordecai Yarnell and Mary, his wife by Indenture on 11/26/1759, Deed Book EF No. 10, page 155, granted and conveyed unto Philip Winemore, father of the above named Philip Winemore in fee for --- A piece of ground situate on the West side of Fourth Street from Delaware in the said city containing in breadth on the said street twenty one feet and in length or depth one hundred and ninety six feet bounded on the East of said Fourth Street on the South of other ground intended to be granted by the said Mordicai Yarnell and Mary, his wife to Jacob Van Reed on the ??? of ground late of William Hunter deceased, and on the North by ground late of Nathaniel Allger, deceased, being the back ends of Spruce Street. Paying the yearly rent of fourteen Spanish coined pieces of eight or so much correct money of Pennsylvania as shall be sufficient from time to time to purchase fourteen such pieces of eight on the fifth day of May forever thereafter. According to Will of Philip Winemore, the father, dated December 16, 1783, after the death of his wife, property is to go to son Philip, subject to a yearly ground rent of five pounds, five shillings per annum Signed: Philip Winemore Elizabeth Winnemore Witnesses: A. Regnand John Bonsall Jacob Winemore et al to Philip Winemore Philip Winemore, according to terms of his father’s Will, is to pay his sister’s and brother’s their fair share. Maria Marshall $444.66 Susanna Lees $380.66 Barbara Gooden $50..66 Jacob Winemore $157.33 Total 1,029.33 All these payments were signed for and listed as a Deed Poll. (Deed poll: a document signed by one person representing several persons) Maria Marshall deceased. Her $420.66 given to representative Lewis Rush for daughter Mary Rush. (daughter and son-in-law) Jacob Winemore received $157.33 Susanna Lees, deceased. Her $380.66 divided up between John W. Lees received $101.71 Jacob Carmen received 305.13 or three fourths of amount due One fourth for Mary Lees Carman One fourth for Ann Lees Kinnard One fourth for Joseph Lees (by letter of attorney dated 7/18/1806, Jacob Carmen is to receive money and give discharges for him) No mention is made of Barbara Gooden and what happened to her money. Thomas Kinnard & ux to Jacob Carman Philip Winemore, under the terms of his father’s Will was charged with the payment of $380.66 to Susanna Lees. Susanna Lees is deceased so money is to go to her 4 children. Jacob Carman, of the said city, House Carpenter, is collecting the money on behalf of Ann Kinnard and will turn over to her.
