Originally sold to Thomas Winnemore on October 15, 1821, Deed Book IH. No 2, page 35 by Thomas Mattey, Administrator of estate of Charles Clare, deceased. Two certain messuages or tenements and the lot or piece of ground thereunto belonging situate on the north side of Hudson’s Lane or Christain Street in the County of Philadelphia, beginning at the distance of nine feet from the west side of Seventh Street, then extending along the said Hudson Lane or Christain Street sixty feet-thence northwardly at right-angles to the said Hudsons Lane or Christain Street by ground late of James Hendricks two hundred and forty five feet to Catharine Street-thence eastward along the said Catharine Street twenty nine feet eight inches and two tenths of an inch to Seventh Street-thence southward along the said Seventh Street one hundred and ninety feet to ground of James Eneu, thence along the west side of the ground of James Eneu, sixty feet to the place of beginning be the same more or less with the appurtenances., etc., subject to yearly ground rents charges of fifteen pounds to the said James Hendricks. James Eneu, the Elder and Margaretha, wife, by Indenture dated October 7, 1825, sold to Thomas Winnemore a certain triangular lot or strip of ground situate at the north westerly corner of Hudson’s Lane and Delaware Seventh Street-continued aforesaid containing in front on Hudson’s Lane about nine feet and in length or depth Northward about forty feet more or less to a point on the west side of the said Seventh Street-bounded on the south by the said Hudson’s Lane, on the east by the said Seventh Street, and on the west by other ground of the said Thomas Winnemore, being the lot of ground first herein described. For the sum of two thousand three hundred and fifty dollars lawful silver money of the USA paid to Thomas Winnemore by John Diamond, John gets the two several contiguous lots or pieces of ground situate in the township of Moyamensing and county of Philadelphia.. Beginning at the northwest corner of Christain Street formerly called Hudson’s Lane and Delaware Seventh Street continued aforesaid thence extending westwardly along the north line of the said Christain Street sixty nine feet to the ground now belonging to the said John Diamond thence along the same northwardly two hundred and forty five feet of the said Catharine Street-thence eastwardly along the said Catharine Street twenty nine feet eight inches and two tenths of an inch to Seventh Street Aforesaid and thence southwardly along the said Seventh Street two hundred and thirty feet be the same more or less to the said Christain Street and place of beginning. Bounded on the north by the said Catharine Street on the East by the said Seventh Street on the south by the said Christain Street and on the west by other ground now belong to the said John Diamond. Reserving out of this grant a strip of ground fifteen feet in width north and south lately taken from off the entire south end or front of the same above described for the purpose of widening the said Hudson’s lane or Christain Street and to be used for public use forever.
