Attorneys We, Thomas Stokes, a resident of Wood St. above 12th City of Philadelphia and Daniel Coakley, a resident of No. 18 Jones Alley City aforesaid—upon our oath declare that the foregoing declaration was signed and acknowledged by Thomas Schreiner in our presence and the we believe from the appearance and statement of the applicant that he is the identical person he represents himself to be and they swear they are disinterested witnesses. Heath Commisioner of Pensions Sir, I have the honor to transmit herewith, the Declaration of Miss Christianna Schreiner the only minor Child of William Schreiner, late a Private in Captain Wm. Mitchell’s Company of Infantry, deceased preparatory to the issuing of a Warrant of Bounty Land to which under the act of Congress she may be entitled. Be pleased to direct the same may be sent to my address. I am respectfully, Michael Ash (signature) Bounty Land Claim Declaration State of Pennsylvania City and County of Philadelphia On this twenty sixth day of March AD one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty one, personally appeared before me, George W. Ash Esquire, an Alderman, and Ex Officer, a Justice of the Peace duly authorized to administer oaths, within and for the City, County, and State aforesaid Christianna Schreiner, the only Daughter and Child of William Schreiner under the age of Twenty one years, late a Private illegible First Company Union Guards now deceased, commanded by Captain William Mitchell, First Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Commanded by Colonel Clemant Biddle (that the said Christianna is sixteen years of age) The said Regiment was engaged in the War with Great Britain, declared by the United States, on the Eighteenth day of June AD 1812 – that her said father volunteered at Philadelphia aforesaid on or about the First day of August AD 1814, for the term of six months, and was honorably discharged at Philadelphia aforesaid on or about the fifth day of January AD 1815, as will appear by the Muster Rolls of the said company. That he never received any discharge the Regiment to which he belonged was mustered out of service: and that the said William Mitchell left no widow: She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which she may be entitled under Act illegible September AD 1850. Christianna Schreiner (signature) State of Pennsylvania Philadelphia County ss: This twenty fifth day of February AD 1854 personally appeared before me that illegible and Alderman and Ex officer a Justice of the Peace, in and for the said County, Christianna Webb and Elizabeth Beitenman, both residents of the said County, each above the age of Twenty One years, who illegible by me, duly sworn illegible oaths do say that, Christainna Schreiner an Applicant through her guardian Thomas Schreiner, is the only minor Child of William Schreiner deceased late a soldier in the War of AD 1812 Who died on or about 1835 – who left a widow since deceased – in that there is no public or private illegible of this death and burial to the best of their knowledge illegible and they were well acquainted with the aforesaid William and his deceased wife and illegible his illegible daughter the Applicant of illegible for illegible Bounty Land that they are both disinterested in the Claim for Land Bounty. Ash (signature) Alderman and Ex Officer City and County of Philadelphia and the State of Pennsylvania Christanna Webb and Elizabeth Schreiner both residents of the County aforesaid, and at the age of One and Twenty, being by me duly sworn on their respective oaths did, on this Twenty sixth day of March AD 1851/7 ? depose and say that the declaration within written and made by the within named Christianna Schreiner, is just and true, and that she is of the age within specified – and is the only minor child of the within named William Schreiner, deceased, and they were severally well acquainted with Margaret Schreiner, the mother of said Christianna, as well as her deceased father, for the term of their natural lives. Christianna Webb (signature) Elizabeth Schreiner (signature Sworn and subscribed the day and year aforesaid before me Geo. W. Ash (signature) Alderman and Justice of the Peace Declaration for Guardian of Minor children State of Pennsylvania ss: County of Philadelphia On this Fifteenth day of March Ad one thousand eight hundred fifty five personally appeared before me within and for the County and State aforesaid Thomas Schreiner a resident of Philadelphia in the State of Pennsylvania who being duly sworn according to law, declares, as appears from the records, that he is the guardian of Christiana Schreiner, who was born on or about the 21st day of July 1834 and who is the child of William Schreienr, deceased, who died on or about the 6th day of April AD 1835 leaving no widow now surviving him, and who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Mitchell in the 1st Regiment of Pa Vol Inf. Mil commanded by Col. C.C. Biddle in the war with Great Britain declared June 18th 1812 that he believes the said William Schreienr volunteered at Philadelphia on or about the 11th day of September 1814 for the term of left blank and was honorably discharged at Philadelphia on account of expiration of service on or about the 3rd day of January AD 1815 as will appear by the Muster Rolls of said company. The said Thomas Schreiner as the guardian of the said minor, makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining from the Department of the Interior, (for the benefit of the said minor child) the certificate or warrant for bounty land to which said minor child of William Schreiner deceased, may be entitled under the act of Congress passed March 3, 1855, and he further illegible that he has formerly made application under the act of 28th Sept. 1850 and received a Land Warrant No. forgotten for forty acres and that he has never made any other application for Bounty Land on behalf of said minor. Thomas Schreiner (signature) guardein For Chritana Schreiner On this fifteenth day of March 1855, personally appeared before me John Henry Alderman in and for said City and State of Pennsylvania the aforesaid guardian, who being duly sworn, declares, that he is guardian of the aforesaid minor and that the statement as set forth in the declaration, by him, is correct. John Henry (signature) Alderman I do hereby certify, that it appears from proper records, and other evidence, that the minor aforesaid, (blank) of age, as mentioned by their guardian in his declaration, and to the best of my knowledge, the facts as stated by the said guardian and Declarant are substantially true.
