(Stroudsburg, Pa.) April 7, 1864 Margaret Baer Murder in Philadelphia. An unfortunate affair occurred at the Continental Theatre, on Saturday evening last. The victim, whose name is Margaret Baer, was seated with some eight or ten others in one of the private boxes, witnessing the performance. A young man named Wm. Howard Mitchell, her lover, fired three shots at her, two of them taking effect, one immediately in front of the right ear and the other in her right arm. She died without uttering a word.
