Relatives and friends, also St. Gabriel's T. A. B. Division, No. 59, A. O. H., and Court Wharton, F. of A.; Wapelle Tribe, Imp O. R. M., No. 325 (cut off) DAVID C. BRIGGS, Vice President of the United Shirt and Collar Company, of Troy, N. Y. is dead in Chicago of anaemia, after an illness of several months. GEORGE WILSON MERVINE, one of the oldest members of the police force, died at his home at 2440 Bancroft street, on Wednesday. He was 83 years of age. He was appointed a patrolman by Mayor Henry June 4, 1860, and was attached to the old 12th district. In 1862 he was made street sergeant, and when Mayor Fox took his seat he was dismissed, but was reappointed by Mayor Stokley in 1874, and placed on the reserves under Lieutenant Crout. He remained with this squad until 1883. In 1892 he was made a pensioner.
