Cash, one of the oldest and best known conveyancers, doing business in Philadelphia for the past forty years, died on Monday of general debility and softening of the brain. Deceased entered the conveyancing business in 1832. At various times subsequently he was a chief member of the firms of Cash & (Samuel Elliott) Harlan, Cash & (Charles H.) Muirhead, Cash & (T. Mason) Mitchell, and Cash & Jones, and soon acquired a very large business, exceeded by no other individual in this city in his time, and a very high reputation. Mr. Cash transacted between 1840 and 1860 the heaviest real estate business in this city, and all the leading operators in it mainly dealt with him. Hi was an excellent judge of it. He commanded the confidence of capitalists, and had an unusually fine faculty in adjusting party lines and in subdividing large tracts of land into small lots to good advantage. His health broke down in 1863, and it was followed by the loss of his mind. His business was intrusted to George N. Watson, and his friends placed him under the care of the physicians of the Pennsylvania Hospital, in West Philadelphia. He was a man of considerable means, and is reported to have left quite a large estate. His funeral is to take place from the residence of his sisters, No. 235 South Thirteenth street, this afternoon. The Philadelphia Times Wed Aug 2, 1876 page 2 Andrew D. Cash, at one period the leading conveyancer and dealer in real estate of this city, died, on Monday last, of softening of the brain. Between the years 1840 and 1860, Mr. Cash operated in real estate to the value of millions of dollars, and his reputation was of the most unimpeached character. He was one of a party of gentlemen who owned the Green Hill estate, and also managed the large landed property of Charles Henry Fisher, William Lawrence and others. He was a man of undoubted integrity, and by industry and economy acquired a considerable fortune. Additional Comments: Married Mary C.
