    CROOKS.-At Astoria, L. I., on the 23d instant, Mrs. MARY M. CROOKS,
aged eighty five years, widow of George R. Crooks, Sr., of Williamsport,
Pa., and mother of the Rev. Dr. George R. Crooks, formerly editor of the
Methodist, New York, and Colonel William B. Brooks, of this city.
   Funeral services at the M. E. Church, Astoria, 10 o'clock, this morning,
26th instant. Interment at Woodlands, West Philadelphia.
