Haffner, after a lingering sickness of three months, died at his home, on West Patrick street, on Saturday evening at 7.15 o’clock, of diabetes in his 64th year. The deceased for a number of years carried on the butchering business and latterly was engaged in the hotel business. At one time he ran the Hafner House, corner of East All Saints and South Market streets, which is now occupied by Messrs. Krise & Dean as a grocery store. His funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from his late residence, the Black Horse hotel. Interment will be made at Mount Olivet cemetery. The deceased leaves five grown children, three daughters and two sons. Mr. Haffner was born February 9th, 1827, in Pforzbeim Grosheryogthum, Baden, Germany. He came to this country at the age of 18, landing in Philadelphia. He then came to Frederick, where he has resided 37 years.
