A native of Germany, Mr. Hess had spent nearly his entire life in Erie [Erie County, Pa]. He operated a tailor business at 266 West 8th Street for many years. Mr. Hess was a member of Tyrian Lodge 362; Temple Royal Arch Chaper 215; Mt. Oliver Commandery No. 30; Knights Templar; and Zem Zem Temple Shrine. Survivors include two sisters, Ms. Katherine Goulet of Erie [Erie County, Pa]; and Mrs. Emma Zuck, Philadelphia [Pennsylvania]; and three brothers, A. Matthew, Anthony and James A. Hess, all of Erie [Erie County, Pennsylvania]. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Donald C. Burton Funeral Home, 10th and Cherry Sts., with the Rev. Ivan G. Hunsberger, pastor of Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery [Erie County, Pennsylvania]." Burton Funeral Home, Tenth and Cherry Streets, after Friday noon and are invited to services Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Interment in Erie cemetery."
