Tyrone Star P 2 May 25, 1858

A Philadelphian Drowned --- By a private telegraphic dispatch, received 
yesterday morning, we learn that Mr. Thomas C. Jolly, a resident of this city, 
was drowned at Vicksburg, Mississippi, a few days since.  He was landing from a 
steamboat and while walking off the gang plank, accidentally fell overboard.  
Deceased was formerly an operator of the magnetic telegraph, and at one time 
was a civil engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad.  At the time of his death he 
was in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company as a travelling agent.  
Mr. Jolly was a single man, about twenty-eight years of age.  His parents 
reside in the interior of the State, but formerly lived in this city.  He had 
the reputation of being a kind hearted man, and his many friends will be sorry 
to hear of his sudden decease. ---Forney's Press.
The gentleman named above is a brother of M. H. Jolly, Esq., of this place, and 
was staying with him, at the time he received his appointment from the 
Pennsylvania Railroad company.  His father is dead and his mother resides at 
Altoona, and we learn, the intelligence of her son's death afflicts her very 
much
