(Stroudsburg, Pa.) 1853-1911: June 22, 1876 June 18th, at Philadelphia, Rachel S. Vail, relict of Dr. Charles Vail, formerly of this place, aged 77 years and 15 days. The deceased was a daughter of John Stroud, and grand daughter of Col. Jacob Stroud, the founder of this place. She has been a member of the Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years past. She was a resident of Stroudsburg until the last 15 years, when she left this place to reside with her son, Lewis D. Vail, Esq., in Philadelphia. Her remains were brought to this place yesterday and interred in the Old Cemetery Grounds beside the body of her husband. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church yesterday, and a large concourse of her relatives and old friends and neighbors were in attendance.
