Westmeath, Ireland. He and his brother William McCadden owned a toy and fireworks department store at 619 Market St in downtown Philadelphia. In May of 1898, there was an explosion of the fireworks and William was killed in the fire along with several employees. The McCaddens store and neighboring establishments were destroyed and damaged. There were 2 other brothers, Thomas P. and Michael McCadde,n who were also in business together in the city.
