All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Betty-Lu Burton bigburma@juno.com December 13, 2006, 11:52 am Quaker Meeting Records Film# 20473 Quaker Marriage Records FHL# 20473 Northern District, Philadelphia, PA John Moulson and Sarah Williams 4day 6mo 1799 Whereas John Moulson of the City of Philadelphia in the State of Pennsylvania Merchant Son of Samuel Moulson and Dinah his Wife of the Parish of St Johns in the Kingdom of Great Britain, and Sarah Williams of the said City Daughter of Daniel Williams and Jane his Wife late of the Northern Liberties of the said City deceased, having declared their intentions of Marriage with each other before several Monthly Meetings of the People called Quakers at Philadelphia for the Northern District – according to the good order used among them, and having consent of the surviving parents their said proposal of Marriage was allowed of by the said Meeting Now these are to Certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing their said intentions this fourth Day of the sixth month in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and ninety nine they the said John Moulson and Sarah Williams appeared in a publick Meeting of the said People held in their North Meeting House at Philadelphia aforesaid and the said John Moulson taking the said Sarah Williams by the Hand did, on this Solemn occasion openly declare that he took her the said Sarah Williams to be his wife promising with the Lord’s assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful Husband until Death should separate them; and then in the same assembly the said Sarah Williams did in like manner declare that she took the said John Moulson to be her Husband promising with the Lord’s assistance to be unto him a loving and faithful Wife until Death should separate them And Moreover they the said John Moulson and Sarah Williams she according to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her Husband as a further confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their Hands. Jn’o Moulson Sarah Moulson and we whose name are also hereunto subscribed being present at the solemnization of the said Marriage and Subscription have as witnesses thereunto set our Hands the Day and year above written.
