These may therefore certifie, that his conversation hath been sober & of good report and that he is clear from all persons here about on the account of marriage, as far as we know or understand. John Rumford, Geo Boone Sr, John Longworthy, Antho Lee, Geo Boone, Saml Whitacres, Henry Bell, Robt Robeson, Ralph Hatton, Benja Longworthy. 8-27-1721 Whereas Jonathan Robeson of Township of Amity in ye county of Philadelphia in ye Province of Pensilvania, Son of Andrew Robeson deceased, and Elizabeth Morris daughter of David Morris of ye Township of Marpleim in the County of Chester in ye Province aforesd, having declared their intentions of marriage with each other before several monthly meetings of ye people called Quakers, in Radnor & Haverford according to ye good order used amongst you whose proceedings therein after deliberate consideration thereof and having consent of parents & relations concurred nothing appearing to obstruct, were approved of by ye sd meetings. Now these are to certifie all whom it may concern yt for ye full accomplishing of their sd intentions this twenty seventh day of ye eight mo anno domini 1721, they ye sd Jonth Robeson & Eliza Morris appearing in a publick meeting of ye sd people at Haverford, and ye sd Jonth Robeson taking the sd Eliza Morris by ye hand did in a solemn manner openly declare yt he tooke her to be his wife promising through ye Lords assistance to be unto her a faithfull & loving husband until death should separate you. And moreover ye sd Jonth Robeson & Eliza Morris she according to ye custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as a further confirmation thereof did there & then to these presents set their hands: and we whose names are here under written being amongst other present at ye solemnization of ye sd marriage & subscription in manner aforesd as witnesses thereunto have also to these presents set our hands ye day & year above written.
