Imp’e. I will that all my Debts & funerall Expenses be paid and discharged by my Exec’t hereafter named. It’e Whereas I being in possossion of four hundred & Twenty five acres of Land as by Patent doth appear whereof I will and Do hereby impower my Exec’t. To devise Sell Lett Set & dispose one hundred and fifty acres thereof towards paying of my Debts & also for the maintaining & proferring of my other Children with Land I will it be laid out on David Lewis’s Line. It’e I do give and bequeath unto my beloved wife my Plantation Houses & Orchard w’th all the apurtenances thereunto belonging & what more Land she may have occasion to use adjoining to the s’d Plantation during her natural Life & after her decease to my Eldest Son Thomas Ellis & to his Heirs for Ever It’e I do give and bequeath unto my s’d Son Thomas Ellis (the remainder of the said complament of four hundred and Twenty five acres viz) two hundred & Seventy five acres whereof ye Plantation w’ch I live upon is part reserving w’h is before mentioned to my wife during her life and after all the s’d Two hundred & Seventy five acres to him & his Heirs for Ever upon certain condition hereafter mentioned Viz I do hereby charge the two hundred Seventy Five acres w’th Eighty pounds Curr’t mony of this Provinces to be by my said Son Thomas paid when he attain to the age of Two & Twenty unto my Execut’r to be disposed of among my other Children according to the discretion of my s’d Execut’r together w’th Such others I shall hereafter nominate & appoint to be Guardians of my Children and Overseers of this my Last Will and Testament and not to any other use whatsoever. It’e I give and bequeath towards the repairing of Haverford burying place the Sum of Thirty Shillings. It’e I do nomionate my dear & loving wife to be Sole Execu’r of this my Last Will & Testament and hereby revoke all other wills by me hithertofore made. Lastly I do nominate and ordain my Trusty & well beloved friends Rowland Ellis, John Richard Rees ---- & Benjamin Humphry to be Guardians to my Children and to be Assistanes as occasion may require to my beloved wife my Execut’r in the disposal of what may remain of my Estate after paying off my Debts and maintaing of my Younger Children unto whose care I commit and desiring to See this my will performed In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 19th of the Sixth month 1705 Ellis Ellis {seal} Signed & published in the presence of [It’e it is my will that if my wife may happen to marry another Husband that my before Friends whom I named to be overseers & Guardians in this my will do what they think meet between my s’d wife & my Son concerning life in my Plantation & if both may Stand to what they award] Rowland Ellis Humphry H Ellis mark Benj’a Humphry Philad’a April 6 1706 Then personally appeared Rowland Ellis and Benjamin Humphry two of the Witnesses w’thin named and on their Solemn Attestment did declare they Saw the w’thin named Ellis Ellis Sign Seal publish and declare the w’thin writing to be his Last Will & Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of Sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge Coram Pet Evans Reg’t Be it remembered that on ye 6th day of Apr 1706 The last Will & Testament of Ellis Ellis was proved in due form of Law And Probate & Letter of Adm’n was granted to (blank) Ellis the Exec’r therein named being first attested well & Truly to Adin’r and bring an Inventory of the Deced’d Estate unto the Reg’r Office at Phi’a on or before ye (blank) day of (blank) next. Given under the seal of the s’d office of Pet Evans Reg. At the end there were tree places where it was just blank.
