Raftsman's Journal. (Clearfield, Pa.) April 8, 1857
McGurk who was arrested for the murder of young Waddel, has confessed that the boy
had been shot in bed, and his body subsequently burned and the remains thrown
into a creek. McGurk charged another laborer, Quick, with having committed the deed,
but an examination only served to deepen the impression that McGurk was himself the
guilty party. The lad's bones were found in the creek.
