B, P. 204 Written: May 1, 1832 Recorded: September 28, 1835 In the name of God Amen. I Garrett Brodhead of the Township of Delaware in the County of Pike and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania yeoman and being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding (Blessed be to God for the same) and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being desirous of settling my worldly affairs do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit --- Principally and first of all I commend my immortal soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner. And as to my worldly estate wherewith it has blessed God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner to wit --- I give to my loving wife Affy all the household furniture together with the beds and bedding to be at her own disposal and also give her the right of having the control and direction of all my real estate during her life but not to be at her disposal. I give to my son Nicholas during his life and to his children after his death one tract of land surveyed in the name of Alexander Vangorden and Lodwick Hoover containing sixty acres, one other what is called and surveyed in the name of David Litch containing one hundred and eighteen acres adjoining the above being the same premises on which I now live. I also give him and his children as above mentioned all my personal property after my honest debts and funeral expenses are paid and to be under the control and direction of his Mother during her life. My son Nicholas having paid two hundred dollars on these lands and is considered in the Bequest and not to be a lien on any other lands. I give to my two daughters Hannah late the wife of John Brown and Cornelia the wife of Nathan Emery the following named lands each an equal part, and to their children after their deaths one tract containing one hundred and five acres with the improvements adjoining lands of John Westbrook and the estate of Sofarine Westbrook. One other tract called the Sugar Wood adjoining lands of Samuel Hunt containing seventy nine acres and one other surveyed in the name of Alexander or Gilbert Vangorden containing fifty six acres adjoining the Litch tract and lands of Gilbert Steel and called by the name of the bog meadow tract. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Affy to be my executrix and John Westbrook to be my executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty two. Gar. Jacob Westbrook Simon I. Decker Pike Co [Seal] This twenty eight day of September A.D. Eighteen hundred and thirty five before me, John H Brodhead, Register for the Probate of Wills, and granting Letters of Administration in and for said county, personally came Jacob Westbrook Esq. and Simon I. Decker the two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will, and being duly sworn according to law did depose and say that they were present and saw and heard Garret Brodhead the testator sign seal publish pronounce & declare the foregoing instruments of writing to be his last will and testament, and at the time of so doing he was of perfect sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge & belief.
