HAMILTON This admirable gentleman was desirous that the editors of the CRIMSON AND WHITE should give him a "puff" in their valuable book, and to oblige him they desire to make public a short synopsis of his life up to date. George W. Hamilton was born on a farm in Berks county. He has a noble ancestry, Alexander Hamilton being his great-grand-grandfather's uncle's cousin. He came to Pottsville at an early age, but did nothing extraordinary until he entered the High School, where his star began to rise. As a sprinter, he became famous while yet a Junior, and in his Middle year, he was sent to Philadelphia by the A. A. to take part in a relay race. Sorry to say our team lost, but "it was not his fault." His excellent qualities as a foot ball player were not recognized until this last season. He distinguished himself by winning every game that was played, only the referee did not always agree to it. In the recent meet of the A. A. he was the leading figure, and won several medals. With such a glowing past back of him, we predict for him a brilliant future. Owing to the smallness of the membership, this club dispensed with the Secretary and Treasurer. RIDING CLUB "'Tis Folly to Walk." Very little of a definite character is known of this club, as a clause in its Constitution and By Laws positively forbids its members to speak of its business or secrets in the presence of anyone not belonging to the mysterious circle. Several detectives have been long at work upon the case, but have discovered nothing more noteworthy than that the club's "ponies" are secured in lots from a Philadelphia firm which deals in contraband goods, and that the girls comprising the Senior division in Latin are among the most influential members, and fill the most important offices. Some of the Middlers have been admitted, but the Juniors are still on probation, though several have striven hard to lasso a "pony" somewhere. NOTORIETY CLUB We, a few stranded individuals, desiring to rend the veil of obscurity and become better known to the world, do hereby band ourselves together to secure our mutual advancement. The objects of this club are three in number. First and chiefly, - The exaltation of its members. Second - The promotion of the departure of any students objectionable to any member of this club. Third - This club shall be composed of members of the faculty and students of this school. All members are required to take an active part in the proceedings of the club. It is true, not so many games were played as might have been, but, with one exception, the games that were played, were won by our team. In every case the opposing team was by far superior to ours in weight. Our new men did excellent service and it is to be hoped that next years team will be equal to that of this year.
