We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. _________________________________________________________________ Extracts from "Pioneers and Patriots Over the Blue Mountain" by F.Richard Turnbach pub and copyright 1995 John Helfrich DOLLINGER, a son of George and Maria Margaretha [STAPLETON], applied for a pension under an Act of Congress of the United States in 1832, which provide pension benefits to persons who served in the American Revolution. In his application he stated that he had a "Taubshine" which contained a record of his birth at Oley Township on 14 September 1758. His Baptism is recorded at Oley Hill Church on 22 October 1758; sponsors were Johann HELFRICH and Pastor SCHAUM. He enlisted while living in Jonestown, Dauphin [now Lebanon ] County in January 1777. He stated that he served as a private in Col. Humpton's regiment, and that he was in the battles of Brandywine, Paoli, and Monmouth. After three years service he returned to Jonestown, lived afterwards in Hanover Township, lived one year near Little Swatara Creek, then moved to Schuylkill County. He was granted a pension of $80.00 per year while living at Pine Grove Township. He died at Pine Grove Township on 21 November 1843, and is buried at Gunkel's Cemetery in the Boro of Pine Grove. His wife was Veronica DITZLER, she was born 16 October 1761; died 15 March 1844. John made a will 22 December 1840, Probated 24 January 1844. His will was witnessed by John D. Leonard and John Strimpfler; Samuel Guss, Esq was Executor. In his will he named his wife, "Feronica"; daughters Catherine, wife of Henrich GAMBEL; Anna Maria, wife of Henrich BUCHLER; Elizabeth, wife of Jacob LEHMAN; William DOLLINGER, his brother's son, to whom he left the family Bible; and Johannes LEHMAN, his Godson.
