We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. _________________________________________________________________ Extracts from "Pioneers and Patriots Over the Blue Mountain" by F.Richard Turnbach pub and copyright 1995 Richard STEVENS, a Quaker, and one of the earliest residents of what is now Schuylkill County died on 12 Sep 1781 in Brunswick Township. His will made 11 Sep 1781 and probated 25Mar1784, was witnessed by John SCHEFFER and Richard WILLETS. Francis PARVIN, son George STEVENS, and son-in-law Evan HUGHES, were executors; Evan HUGHES surviving son George. His will mentions wife Dorothea, sons Robert, Richard, and George; daughters Eleanor DAVIS; Susanna STEVENS; Ann HUGHES; granddaughters Myanna DERIMER; and Eleanor DAVIS. Exeter Monthly Meeting records state that he was buried in Brunswick Township, also that he was a "Lame man- wife and seven children... left their habitation because of the Indian enemies..." He married Dorothea. Dorothea, died on 11 Nov 1798 in Brunswick Twp., buried at Maiden Creek Township. They had the following children: Robert STEVENS was born on 4 Mar 1734. He died on 23 Mar 1820 in Schuylkill- Will Bk 1 P50. Buried at Schuylkill County per Exeter Monthly Meeting, age 86. He servedin the Revolutionary War in 1779 in Capt Whetstone's Co. Brunswick Militia. Elizabeth STEVENS was born on 3 Mar 1736. Exeter Monthly Meeting records indicate that she was married by a priest. She married DERIMER. Eleanor STEVENS was born on 26 Feb 1738. She married Nehemiah DAVIS [of Chester]. They had the following children: Mary DAVIS m HORN; Elizabeth DAVIS; William DAVIS; Susan DAVIS; and Eleanor DAVIS d 18Mar1831 62y, 5 months, 24 days buried at Maiden Creek, married James STARR d 9Sep1843 74y, 5m, 9d , also buried at Maiden Creek. Richard STEVENS was born on 2 May 1740 in [recorded at Exeter], died 10Sep1815. He served in Brunswick Companies during the Revolution. He and his wife Ann [d/o Pul and Catherine HEIM] had the following children: Richard: James; Daniel; Susanna; Ann Eleanor who married TOMLINSON; Elizabeth; John who died on 9 Aug 1852 near Drehersville [Die Stimme... reported age 70-4-2]; and Jacob STEVENS. John STEVENS was born on 3 Jun 1742. Died in Aug 1777. Buried in Brunswick Twp., age 36. George STEVENS was born on 28 Mar 1743. He died in Nov 1783 in Brunswick; buried same. He also served in the Revolutionary War in 1779 in Capt Whetstone's Brunswick Militia. Susanna STEVENS was born on 14 Jun 1746. She was the second wife of Francis PARVIN. Their marriage is recorded on 12 Sep 1781 in Exeter Meeting. "Francis Parvin of Maiden Creek Twp. and Susanna Stevens d/o Richard of Brunswick". They had the following children: Thomas Pearson PARVIN born on 10 Oct 1782, died on 30 Jun 1799 [Pottstown Meeting]; Susan PARVIN born on 29 Jan 1785; Elizabeth PARVIN. Friends Meeting at Exeter records- Elizabeth 2nd b9Oct1786 and also Elizabeth 2nd b8 Dec 1788 ? Ann STEVENS was born on 2 Sep 1750; died 30Oct1859 age 89, 1m, 29d, buried at Maiden Creek. She married Evan HUGHES on 3 Nov 1779. Evan HUGHES died 13th of Oct 1828 in his 85th year, buried at Maiden Creek. They had the following children: Hannah b1780; Evan b1782; John b1784; Stephen 1786; George 1788; Evan #2 abt 1790; Ann b1793. It is believed that the Brunswick Township burials are at a private Steven's Cemetery on one of the family properties. This researcher has been unable to find the graves.
