Mary S. Bunsa, age 80, of Basking Ridge died suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007,
at Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa. Friends may visit with the family
on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kearns Funeral
Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse. For those wishing to pay their final
respects, you may do so on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church in
the Church Narthex. A Funeral Mass will be held in the church at 11 a.m. For

Born in Jersey City, Mary was the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence
Swingle. She grew up in Bayonne and graduated from Bayonne High School in 1994
and Chestnut Hill College in 1948, where she received her B.S. degree in home
economics. She taught school for several years before working with her brothers
at Swingles Diner in Springfield. In 1955, she married her husband, Robert
Bunsa, and the two moved to Basking Ridge in 1961. Mary was very active in her
community and St. James Church in Basking Ridge. Besides her beloved husband,
Mary is survived by her loving children, Mary Jo Calamai of Ridgefield, Conn.,
Robert Bunsa Jr. of Pennington, Beth Finn of Ivyland, Pa., Rahl Bunsa of
Somerville, Mass., Fred Bunsa of Basking Ridge, and Ann Walker of Peachtree
City, Ga., and her 21 precious grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family
requested memorial donations to the Brotherhood of Hope, 194 Summer St.,
Somerville, Mass. 02143.
