Maylath St, 73, of 935 W. 17th St., Hazleton, died Friday evening at GHHA Church Street Campus. Born in West Hazleton, he was the son of the late John J. and Barbara E. (Maylath) Maylath and a 1947 graduate of (former) West Hazleton High School. In addition, he attended the finance schools of Penn State and Dickinson College. He resided in Sugarloaf before moving to Hazleton, where he has lived for the past 42 years. An Army veteran of the Korean War, prior to retiring, he was assistant vice president for (former) People's Bank and Trust Co., Hazleton. He was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic (Slovak) Church, Hazleton, and the Holy Name Society of the parish; the Hazleton Elks Club and the Hazleton Owls Rod and Gun Club, of which he was a 40-year member. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, John J. Maylath Jr., 1928. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Mary Louise Tokash; children, Mrs. Michael (Mary Beth) Notaro, McAdoo; Vincent J. "V.J." Maylath Jr., Hazleton; John F. Maylath, Sugarloaf and Mrs. James (Lori Ann) Baran, White Haven; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Michael and Matthew Maylath, both of Sugarloaf; and sisters, Elizabeth Racho, Hazleton and Mrs. Albert (Marie) Wolk and Mrs. Michael (Barbara) Olenick, both of Sugarloaf. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, 480W. Broad St., Hazleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic (Slovak) Church. Interment will take place in St. John Nepomucene Cemetery, Freeland.
